About Kirby
The town of Kirby was founded in 1790. It was formed from two peices of land: Burke Tongue and Hopkins Gore. Kirby is a small town in the Northeast Kingdom of only 15-thousand acres of land and a population of about 700 people. The town was chartered to Dr. Roswell Hopkins by the Vermont Legislature. He was granted the charter because he served as Clerk to the Govenor of the council for no pay. The Town Clerk is Wanda Grant.
